About USPSA

The United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) is the national governing body of practical shooting in the United States under the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC). Our over 35,000 active members and over 500 affiliated clubs make USPSA the largest practical shooting organization in the United States.

USPSA scoring is based on the competitors' ability to engage paper and steel targets on their time, accuracy and the caliber of ammunition used. New and seasoned competitors are always welcome to participate at ASC USPSA. One thing that sets USPSA apart from other shooting sports is the classification system. You can see where you rank among the best shooters in the world and track your own improvement as you progress through the sport. If you are interested in watching a match before you compete you are welcome to come and watch.

Becoming a USPSA member does not include local range and club fees. You will be allowed to compete at ASC USPSA even if you don’t belong to ASC or USPSA. However, to track your classification in this sport, start your membership at USPSA.org. After receiving your USPSA membership number, you can sign up for ASC USPSA matches through PRACTISCORE.com

When are the matches?

The ASC USPSA match is on the third Sunday of each month from April through October unless otherwise specified. Setup and check-in start at 8am on match day. USPSA is generally run as a volunteer sport which means all competitors are required to show up to help with setup and stay after the match to tear down. Match starts around 9am or when all stages are built and ready.

Divisions: Open, Limited, Limited 10, Production, Single Stack, Carry Optics, Revolver, Pistol Caliber Carbine

Equipment and Ammo

USPSA.org has a rulebook with a list of specific divisions and equipment requirements for each. We encourage new shooters to bring what you have to get started in the sport and after learning more about the sport, you should choose a division that best fits your firearm.

Basic Equipment needed:

  • Centerfire pistol (revolver or semi-auto) or Pistol Caliber Carbine
  • Competition belt and holster to fit your gun
  • 3-5 magazines in belt magazine pouches
  • 180-200 rounds of ammo
  • Eye and Ear protection

What is the cost for a match?

Match Fees: The prices are $15 for ASC members, and $25 for non-ASC members.
